Dr. Fedida uses dental implants and his oral surgeon skills to help our patients replace any number of missing teeth. Our dental implants treatment method can restore one or many missing teeth.

Dental implants allow patients to eat food without restrictions. A dental implant will look, feel, fit and function just like your natural teeth. They are durable and do not slip around in the mouth like dentures.

Dental Implants in Jackson Heights, NY

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that an oral surgeon surgically places into your jaw. It will serve as an artificial tooth root. The goal of a dental implant is to replace missing teeth and provide a stable base for an artificial tooth. We can also use teeth implants to replace individual missing teeth, or support modern dentures.

Patients enjoy many benefits with dental implants. Dental implants do not have dietary restrictions and allow patients to bite and chew comfortably. They also provide long-lasting and natural-looking results. Other benefits of dental implants include the following:

  • Improved facial aesthetics. Replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant can help restore the normal appearance of your smile and improve facial symmetry.
  • Improved jawbone health. Dental implants help to preserve the jawbone and can help prevent jawbone regression associated with missing teeth.
  • Improved oral health and hygiene. A dental implant can help maintain oral hygiene by providing a stable platform for a normal brushing and flossing routine.
  • Improved speech. Gaps from missing teeth can cause speech impediments, but a dental implant can help restore normal pronunciation of words.
  • Improved overall health. Research suggests that patients with dental implants have an overall improved quality of life. This is because of improved self-confidence, better digestion, and improved dental health.

Our dental implant specialists will review your unique case to decide if this is the best option to restore your lost teeth. Continue reading to learn about the process of getting a dental implant.

Our Dental Implant Procedure

The first step in the dental implant procedure is to make sure that you are a good candidate for this treatment. Dr. Fedida will conduct an exam of your mouth and jaw. He will look for any signs of gum disease, weak jaw bone, and more. If he deems you as a good candidate, we will continue the process.

Dental implants consist of a titanium post, abutment, and dental crown or prosthetic.

On the day of treatment, Dr. Cameron Lewis or our oral surgeon will surgically insert the implant post into your jaw. It will sit right below the soft tissues. The oral surgery is a necessary first step in the process.

After surgery, we will give your mouth 3 to 6 months to heal over the implant post. The post will fuse to the jawbone during this time. Osseointegration is a 3-to-6-month process that stabilizes dental implant posts.

After your mouth heals over the post, our dentist will attach the abutment. Abutments connect the implant post to a dental crown or other dental prosthetic. Our porcelain ceramic dental crowns look and feel like natural teeth. We will make sure that your new crown will match well with your current teeth.

Then, Dr. Fedida will attach the final dental prosthetic to the abutment. The dental prosthetic or restoration can be a dental crown, denture, or dental bridge. A dental implant treatment plan can be a long process, but each step is important.

Oral Surgery and Full Mouth Rehabilitation

We are able to give anyone with missing teeth an opportunity to get dental implants. Unqualified patients can receive dental implants after addressing their dental issues.

As an oral surgeon, Dr. Fedida can provide sinus lifts, osseous surgery, and bone grafting. These surgeries ensure that patients have enough bone and gum tissue to properly support one or more implants. Dental implants and surgical treatments are often key aspects of full mouth rehabilitation.

A full mouth rehabilitation helps replace all of your missing teeth, restore damaged teeth, and improve gum health. We also aim to improve the function of your bite. Replacing missing teeth, bone grafting, and closing gum pockets can improve the health and aesthetics of your smile.

Dental Implant FAQs

Want to know more about our affordable dental implants? With our experience and expertise in providing dental implants, we can help you make an informed decision about restoring your smile. The following are answers to some frequent questions that we get about dental implants.

Is the dental implant treatment painful?

We understand that some patients may think surgical treatments are more painful than other treatments. Fortunately, with modern advancements in dental technology, tools, and techniques, oral surgery can be comfortable and painless. Our dentists are with patients through every step of the dental implant process to ensure that patients feel comfortable. We also provide local anesthetic during treatment as well as IV sedation for pain-free care.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Dental implants require enough healthy jawbone for them to be secure in the mouth. If you have TMJ issues or a weak jawbone, you might not qualify for dental implants. However, you can get a bone graft or other surgical procedure to strengthen your jaw for the implants. Patients with gum disease or cavities will also need treatment before our dentist can conduct an implant procedure.

An implant can replace an extracted tooth, missing tooth, or lost tooth because of an accident, infection, or other reasons. We will conduct a comprehensive exam to determine if you qualify for dental implant surgery.

Can dental implants fail?

Although dental implants have a success rate of about 95%, they can fail in rare cases. Some factors can increase your chance of dental implant failure more than others. These include:

  • Smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Oral infections
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Inadequate bone support
  • Improper implant placement
  • Gum disease

We will make sure that our patient is in good health before we begin any treatment. We examine the existing teeth and gums, and take x-rays of your mouth.

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are permanent restorations. Because tooth implants fuse with the jawbone, they are a permanent part of the mouth. This provides strength and durability to the smile for years to come. The dental implant body/post typically lasts a lifetime with proper care and maintenance.

Can I add dental implants to my existing dental bridge or dentures?

We can arrange dental implant treatment for added stability if you have a dental bridge or dentures. Dental implants are a strong and secure way to anchor a dental bridge, and they can also stabilize a denture. We may recommend a new dental prosthetic if your existing bridge or denture is too old or worn-down.

What are immediate teeth implants?

Our dentist can place dental implants immediately after a tooth extraction procedure. In these cases, the natural gums must be healthy to ensure the long-term health of the dental implant. Adequate bone has to exist around the natural tooth for implant placement after an extraction as well.

We will take 3D x-rays or CBCT scans to determine if a patient is a candidate for an immediate implant. We typically provide immediate implants for missing front teeth. Also when a patient does not want to miss a tooth for longer than they have to.

Will dental insurance help me pay for dental implants?

Typically, dental insurance providers do not cover the entire cost of dental implants because they classify them as elective procedures. They can choose to cover parts of the procedure, but it depends on your provider.

Be sure to talk with your insurance provider to see if they can cover any part of your treatment. We can help you with this process as well. We also offer financing options to help you get the dental care that you need.
