The Process to Get a Dental Crown
To begin the dental crown process, we will first conduct a thorough exam of your mouth, teeth, and gums. The entire process will take two visits to our dental office. Next, we will take x-rays of the area to assess the teeth and surrounding bone. This step will ensure that we are providing the correct treatment for your needs and don’t miss any other issues.
Then, our dentist will prepare the tooth or teeth receiving the dental crown. He may remove a portion of the tooth structure to make sure no infections are present. After preparing the tooth, Dr. Fedida will take dental impressions of your mouth to create a model. He will use the model to make a custom-fit temporary crown that will provide protection to the tooth until the permanent crown is ready. We will send the model to our dental laboratory to fabricate the new porcelain crown. The laboratory technician takes the impression and makes a wax replica of the shape and size of the crown they are designing for you.
Once complete, the dental lab will send the finished porcelain crown to us. At your second visit, Dr. Fedida will fit the crown over the affected tooth and ensure a proper fit and bite. Finally, he will bond your new crown to the tooth using dental cement, and color-match the crown for a seamless look!

What are Inlays and Onlays?
Inlays and onlays are alternatives to dental crowns that cover the cusps or top of teeth.
